Summary
The astronomer Grant Miller is obsessed with the idea of searching for planets similar to the Earth though located in solar systems far away from ours. He is not just sure that life can be experienced outside our solar system, he even believes that this challenging discovery will be made very soon, already in the course of his life. This is a film about the human ambitions to understand the meaning of life, together with the help of scientists who dedicate their lives to give an answer to the most fundamental question of all times.

The story presents the life of a young couple that puts passion in the work of sheep farming. The system of work of the protagonists combines the traditional knowledge with the use of new technologies in a way that guarantees the institution of a modern farm, well integrated in the territory in which it operates.

Anne von Petersdorff is currently completing her Master degree in Media and Culture Studies at the University of Flensburg. She also studied at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y TV at San Antonio de los Banos. During her years of training she has completed several short pieces and one of these gained the 3rd place at the KAUSA Media Competition (KAUSA is a German media initiative which focuses on media works dealing with immigration issues). She is currently working as a freelancer on projects for institutions like Ashoka (a Washington-based NGO) and for the World Policy Journal of New York.
Raphaelle Ayach is a French-American documentary filmmaker. After having studied Film Direction in Paris and having worked in film productions in Spain, she currently lives and works in Cairo, Egypt. She runs courses on dialogue facilitation and acts as a video graphic maker for the organisation of cultural events.

Summary
The authors aim at drafting a non-traditional definition of work, since they define it as a service rendered with discipline and dedication though on a voluntary basis, without the need of a salary as an incentive. The benefits of work do not need to be considered only from a monetary viewpoint; according to the authors, the workers’ self-satisfaction has to be regarded as their real leading mission.

Andrew Berekdar got a BA (Hons) in Social Anthropology and Media and a MSc (Hons) in Medical Anthropology. His film have been selected by juries for many festivals, among which: London “East End Festival”, “Cannes Short Films Corner”, “Dheka International Film Festival” and London “Kilburn”.

Summary
Cricklewood Craic is a portrait of the Irish construction workers who lived and worked in North East London between 1950 and the end of the 20th century. Four retired workers recall their experiences. Since then, everything has deeply changed, the “ancient spirit” which drew the lives of the inhabitants of Cricklewood and grounded their identities has disappeared, leaving only old songs and past memories as remains of those “glorious times”.

In 2005 Piers Sanderson began to study documentary film making at school. Since he graduated, in 2007, he moved to Italy though he continued to make films beneath Italian boundaries. Some of his short films were broadcasted on Italian channel Rai 5. Among other works, he had a 30 minutes documentary shown on Uk channel 4.

Summary
Big companies running major supermarkets have pushed small shops towards inevitable closures. As a consequence, people who work in agriculture and farm animals industries have been squeezed out of the market. The farmer represented in this film does not renounce to do his job simply because this is much more than a job for him, it’s his own way of life. In this film he thus presents the meaning of his work, while talking of his life, money and family. A moving portrait of one of the oldest professions in world history.

Davide Pastorello graduated from the University of Kent in Social Anthropology. He edited and filmed 16 short films and 4 short documentaries. He made an internship at the siege of Bristol of BBC following a professional film-maker and getting expertise in the realization of documentaries. He also graduated from the University of Bologna in Science of Communication.

Summary
Luke Smith, born and grown in the city of Canterbury (UK), makes his living by playing piano in local pubs and tearooms. In the documentary, the spectators follow Luke in his daily routine, evoking the atmospheres of the places where he works. Conversations with Luke as well as with costumers that appreciate him get us acquainted with a man and his fascinating job, yet about to be lost in modern times.

Biographical note of the author
Mikhail Medvedevwas born in Moscow in 1983. This is the first film as director. He has graduated at VGIK (Russian State University of Cin-ematography). In 2012 he worked as animator at full-length animation film Ku!KinDzaDza and in 2015 as background designer at full-length animation film Mystery of Sukharev Tower. Magi-cians of Equilibrium.

Synopsis
The screenplay was inspired by F. Kafka’s short story “My Neighbor”. The film takes place in an imaginary “white collar” world where paper planes are turned into blank forms. The main character realizes the futility of his existence and breaks free from his chains.

Julie is a tiny young woman who works in the world of construction. She has made her way in this male universe. Determined, knowing what she wants. We see her in a new job where she builds sets for opera, theaters and film industry.
